DESCRIPTION

In 2013 a devastating sinkhole occurred in Florida and began to raise concerns and questions about the stability of our perceived foundation. Around 20% of the U.S. lies in areas susceptible to “karst terrain" which is the result of a unique balance between two opposing geological forces: the weathering forces such as rain and ice that break down rock and the innate resistance of the rock itself to change.

The impetus for Karst is the stability of perceived structures (i.e. religious and secular, scientific, natural, economic, familial) and how although the veneer of these structures are presumed ‘fundamentally sound’ society constantly redefines them rendering them unstable.
