OUR XANADU
25' X 10', Sintra home, mdf, foam insulation, Durham's rock hard putty, faux grass, a dirt/sand mixture, vinyl, construction fencing and latex paint.

DESCRIPTION
The impetus for this piece is Xanadu the estate of Charles Foster Kane from the 1941 film Citizen Kane. I've always been intrigued by the movie but specifically the metaphor attached to the unfinished estate (Xanadu) which acts as a symbol that one can never achieve the American Dream -it is inevitably elusive. This is the purpose for situating an "under-construction" house so high up the wall. I want the viewer to have a hard time visually reaching the house in an attempt to prompt an experience of longing.
